This Little Jar Lets You Transform Paint So You Can Transform Furniture
Aug 02, 2025
If you’ve ever wished your favorite paint color came in a prep-free, brush-happy finish made for transforming furniture… this one’s for you.
✦ Meet the BB Frösch Paint Transformer
BB Frösch Paint Transformer is the 100% natural, premium powder that mixes with any flat latex or acrylic paint to create a smooth, ultra-adhesive finish made for transforming furniture, cabinets, and home décor—without the prep, fumes, or price tag of boutique paint brands.
Yes, even that leftover paint in Sea Salt.
Yes, even if this is your first time holding a paintbrush.
Yes, even if you thought this kind of project was only for farmhouse fans (spoiler: it’s not).
✦ Why We’re Obsessed
There are some beautiful boutique chalk paint lines out there — but let’s be real:
Sometimes your dream color isn’t on their chart.
Sometimes you want to use the paint you already have.
Sometimes you’re just not in a $40-a-quart kind of mood.
The Paint Transformer solves all of that.
It gives you the freedom to:
-
Choose any color you want
-
Work with paint you already love
-
Skip the fumes, the wait time, and the complicated prep
-
Paint almost anything, without worrying if it’s “chalk paint approved”
We believe great results shouldn’t require a secret handshake.
✦ How It Works
You don’t need a tutorial marathon to figure it out.
Here’s the 3-step magic:
1. Mix the Powder
-
2 heaping tablespoons of Paint Transformer
-
1-1.5 tablespoons of water
-
Stir until smooth — like donut glaze (don't eat it!), not cement
2. Add Paint
-
8oz of flat latex or acrylic paint
-
Stir like your life (or at least your nightstand) depends on it
3. Paint Anything
-
Wood, metal, plastic, laminate, glass — if it holds still, you can paint it
-
Seal if you want to, or leave it raw and chalky
-
Layer, distress, or keep it crisp. Totally up to you.
✦ What You Can Paint
The short answer? Almost everything.
The longer answer:
-
✅ Furniture (yes, even that laminate dresser from 2003)
-
✅ Cabinets, built-ins, and vanities
-
✅ Picture frames, baskets, trays, home decor
-
✅ Thrift flips and dollar store finds
-
✅ Weird sentimental objects you’re emotionally attached to but can’t explain

✦ What Paint Should You Use?
One of the best things about BB Frösch Paint Transformer is that it works with any brand of flat finish latex or acrylic paint. Yep—any color, any brand, any time inspiration strikes.
Flat finish is our go-to recommendation for best results.
If your paint says “paint + primer,” no problem—you’ll still get that smooth, velvety finish we love. Just note: it may thicken a bit more if stored after mixing.
-
Behr is a fan favorite for convenience—available at Home Depot in 8oz sample jars, and you can tint it to any color. Many options are also No-VOC, which we love.
-
Benjamin Moore is a BB Frösch fave for color and quality. Most locations only sell it in quarts, but don’t worry—you don’t have to mix the whole thing. Just scoop out what you need (we recommend 8oz at a time).
-
We also love Valspar, Sherwin-Williams, and Farrow & Ball work too—just check for flat or matte finish.
Some sample jars range from 6–12 oz and may only come in eggshell or satin. If you go that route, you can still make it work—just increase the amount of Paint Transformer to help with bonding. Rule of thumb: the more sheen, the more powder.
✨Want a satin or glossy look in the end? Start with flat, then seal with BB Frösch Premium Wax or your favorite topcoat. Best of both worlds.
✦ Do I Have to Seal It?
All furniture and cabinets should be sealed for protection after painting. If not, water, distressing, oils, and dirt could damage the surface. Want that smooth, buttery finish? Our Premium Wax delivers a soft, polished glow and glides on like a dream — no stress, just satisfyingly good results. More info on choosing a sealer
✦ New to This? You’ll Be Fine.
You don’t need to know what “wet distressing” means.
You don’t need to watch 17 tutorials.
You don’t need to do it “the right way” — because the right way is your way.
The Paint Transformer was made for:
